Later Southern Mountain Rifle - .40 Caliber with a 7/8" barrel.

The stock is walnut and was milled from a local tree about 10 years ago. The walnut is real dense and when cut, the wood is purple. I had already forged out the butt plate for this a rifle. The trigger is a Davis double set, the guard is a Bean styled trigger guard. The toe plate and ramrod pipes will be hand made. I will be using the upper hand forged butt plate below. This is a later period butt plate for this rifle. (Click on Hyper-links below to go to assembling and installation sections.)
