Shaping the stock:

I divided the forearm side into 5ths and rounding the sides better. This slimmed down the sides of the stock more. I removed the square forearm which came with the precarved stock. 

From the George Schumway book, I made a template to help me flatten the area behind the cheek area on the butt. 2010-05-27 012.JPG (169707 bytes)

It is made from a scrap piece of card board. Hope this photo helps you make one.  Here I positioned it onto the stock with the wrist portion laying flat on the wrist. The gap behind the cheek piece shows me where there is extra wood to be removed.
