Side Plate Installed: (Click on photos to enlarge images.)

I did not like the first side plate I designed, so I tweaked it a little and made it closer to the Maryland rifle style.

DSC00047sb.JPG (194855 bytes)  Here it is installed. This is a thin plate that is installed flush.  Because of the thin material they used, sometimes the gunmakers put DSC00052sb.JPG (128796 bytes)a small screw in the right-hand side.  After installation, I may have to do the same thing. When the two side lock bolts are installed, they have a tendency to draw the plate inward at the top.

Here are couple photos of the rifle to this point. Note, the rifle is balanced right now at the rear thimble area. It is sitting on a pedestal that is about 2" wide.
