I did not like the first side plate I designed, so I tweaked it a little and made it closer to the Maryland rifle style. 

  Here it is installed. This is a thin plate that is installed flush.  Because of the thin material they used, sometimes the gunmakers put a small screw in the right-hand side.  After installation, I may have to do the same thing. When the two side lock bolts are installed, they have a tendency to draw the plate inward at the top.

Here are couple photos of the rifle to this point. Note, the rifle is balanced right now at the rear thimble area. It is sitting on a pedestal that is about 2" wide.
