Carved The Ramrod Channel:

Next I flipped the stock over and drew out the lines for the ramrod groove. Carved it out and used a depth gauge to 1/2 depth of the ramrod's thickness. Once this was done, I then drilled out the ramrod hole into the forearm to the depth of the inside of the barrel with the breech plug in place. RmRd Chnl Drwn.JPG (256641 bytes)

Inlet the Lock:

First the lock was aligned with the front bolster aligned with the midway point on the side of the barrel and the tale was centered in the wrist area. The lock bolster was inletted so the plate laid flat against the stock.  The wood was removed and the lock inletted and the excess surrounding wood is removed.

Note: I drilled out the lock bolt holes right after the lock panel was inletted and before I started inletting the internal parts of the lock. I used the holes predrilled in the lock as my pilot holes for these holes. Forward bolt is 8x32 and the rear bolt is 10x32.
