Thimbles Installed:

Installed the thimbles into the stock. Here are photos of their installation. The end thimble was positioned 3-1/4" from the end of the barrel, the middle was 1/2 between the end and the entry thimbles.

The thimble was laid down in the ramrod groove and the a series of holes were drilled.  I use a "V" carving tool down the center line to help hold the bits in the center of the groove when drilling. Remove the wood, then inlet the thimble into the stock using candle soot on the thimble and removing the blackened wood. 2006-12-10 003.JPG (231148 bytes)
